‘Tis an amazing feat. I’m glad that her parents have had the $ to allow her to do that. Goes to show you how economics really impacts what kids can accomplish. Even more amazing are the kids that come from the trash heeps, climbing out of there without a chip against the world!

Yep, she gets a plus.
When I was having (serious) back problems in the 90s, one of the folks whom I knew (doc student in exercise physiology) stood around during a therapy session and told me about Seven Summits: The Quest to Reach the Highest Point on Every Continent by Dick Bass, Rick Ridgeway and Frank Wells. He loaned me his copy. I read it. Given the difficulty that Samantha Larson must’ve encounterd, she gets a big plus.
I wonder how many more things she’ll do. Will she ride the publicity or focus on achievements that may or may not bring attention? Mayhaps she’ll be a teacher!

I read about her in our Daily newspaper. I’m not surprised she’s chosen to come to Stanford - we’ve got some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met.
